From Clara Bow to Cara Delevingne; the evolution of eyebrows

From Clara Bow to Cara Delevingne; the evolution of eyebrows

I’ve always been a fan of bold brows; they frame the face and exude absolute glamour. Cara Delevingne, it would appear, is of the same opinion.
Her thick, oversized brows have captured the world’s attention, and are becoming something of an entity unto themselves. Indeed, those thick, angular lines are shaping the modern face of beauty.

Big brows have been coming back into style for a while now, but Cara’s arrival on the scene has cemented their status as a beauty-must. Why they ever went out of fashion is beyond me; strong, well-groomed eyebrows give a powerful edge to any face. Sultry yet slightly stern, they compliment a smile as well as they do a withering glance.

Cara recently Tweeted vintage photos of her 101 year old grandma (also a model in her youth) sporting a set of striking eyebrows not dissimilar to her granddaughter’s. These snaps prove that bushy brows have been in vogue before, but this hasn’t always been the case…

Eyebrows have taken on a variety of forms over the past century, evolving dramatically across the decades. Just have a look!
1920s
Silent film star, Clara Bow, who epitomised the flapper era, favoured thin, straight eyebrows which were very fashionable during this decade. This style is all a bit too pantomime-esque and sad-looking for my liking. Moving on!

Jennifer Lopez hot 100

She’s Jenny from the Block but this year she’s going to be in your home each week on the revamp cast of American Idol. Lost of fans were skeptical of Idol replacing Simon Cowell and the rest of the panel, with the exception of Randy Jackson but so far, so good. Jennifer is showing her star power and flexing a little muscle in the first few weeks of auditions.

Samsung Galaxy S II

Let's start this review by getting one thing out of the way first: the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best Android phone in the market, by far. It may also be the best smartphone in the market, period; even if we think this ultimately comes down to personal preference. The Galaxy S II combines one of the biggest and best screens on the market, with blazing performance, functional, stable software and decent battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S II: Design and display

The Samsung Galaxy S II is constructed largely from plastic, but we don't think this detracts from its overall appeal. In fact, we think it actually enhances it purely for the fact that the Galaxy S II is just 8.49mm thick. This makes it thinner than the iPhone 4 and likely the thinnest smartphone in the world.

Microsoft to Buy Nokia’s Device Business in Deal Worth $7.17 Billion

Microsoft announced late Monday that it is buying the majority of Nokia’s cellphone unit for 3.79 billion Euros ($5 billion), and spending another 1.65 billion Euros ($2.18 billion) to license Nokia’s patent portfolio, for a total of 5.44 billion Euros ($7.17 billion).

Once the deal is done, a number of Nokia executives will join Microsoft, including Stephen Elop, a former Microsoft executive who is seen as among the top contenders to replace CEO Steve Ballmer. Also set to join Microsoft are Jo Harlow, Juha Putkiranta, Timo Toikkanen and Chris Weber.
For now, Elop is stepping aside as Nokia CEO to become executive VP of devices and services. Nokia Chairman Risto Siilasmaa will serve as interim CEO.
